RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER QUESTIONS
Amanda from Sioux Falls asks:
Can you tell me if I were to request a roll-off dumpster on my property in order to do some home projects that would require a lot of items to be trashed what items are allowed in these (dumpsters) and if this is charged to my monthly bill or if I have to pay for it separately.
Answer:
We require payment up front for dumpsters or roll offs. We are able to take most any items, but some of the items banned from the regular landfill are liquids, appliances, tires, electronics, grass clippings and leaves, or other recyclable items. We can collect most of those items separately, and they would incur a special fee.
Christine from Sioux Falls asks:
I am wondering if your company would be able to pick up used windshields from a residential location. If not by regular trash pickup, could this be done under a one-time construction pick up?
Answer:
We would be able to take a windshield from your residence. It would be on your regular service day and an extra fee would apply.
Kevin from Sioux Falls asks:
I have carpet for a small room that needs disposal. Do I need to do anything special or pay an extra fee to have it picked up on a normal garbage day?
Answer:
Simply notify our office via phone or our website to schedule this extra service on your collection day. If possible, have it rolled up for easier disposal, and the fee would be added to your bill.
Jeff from Sioux Falls asks:
I have a glass mirror measuring 12” x 48” to dispose of. How do I dispose of it? Is it okay to put in the trash cart?
Answer:
To prevent glass from shattering in your home and yard, you can place tape across the mirror. This item could be placed in your garbage cart. If it fits in your cart there will not be an extra fee, but I would encourage you to call our office so we can communicate with your driver to ensure safe disposal.
Angie from Sioux Falls asks:
We have a treadmill to get rid of and I’m wondering if you would haul something like that for us and what that would cost. The Sioux Falls landfill said they charge $18 to dispose of the treadmill but they said I had to contact you to find out what your charge was.
Answer:
We could certainly dispose of a treadmill for you. It would normally be picked up on your scheduled day, and the cost would vary from $10-$25, depending on its size.
Bruce from Tea asks:
Do you recycle Energy Saving light bulbs or where is that done?
Answer:
In the NEWS section of our website we’ve written an article about CFL bulb disposal.
Jeff from Sioux Falls asks:
I have a few old hard cover books that I would like to dispose of. Can these be recycled?
Answer:
Hard cover books are not allowed in the Single Stream Recycling carts, but paperback books are. Many libraries and some nonprofits will accept hard cover book donations, otherwise, hard cover books can be placed in your trash cart.
Sarah from Sioux Falls asks:
Where on your website can I view our Sioux Falls recycling calendar?
Answer:
From any page click “Choose Your Location” from the top of the screen & select Sioux Falls. Then under Residential Service you’ll find Pickup Schedule A and B – which are pdf maps.
